I love summer-schools out, beach days, summer drinks! One of my favorite summer drinks has always been frozen lemonade. When good old Mcds brought out frozen strawberry lemonade a couple years back we were obsessed! It was SO good. So when it disappeared from our lives we needed to figure out could it be recreated….

aaaand it can!

CINCO de MAYO!

May 1, 2017

Cinco de Mayo is on a Friday this year, which couldn’t be more perfect amirite?!

Last year we posted our favorite mango margarita recipe in celebration of the holiday, so we decided this year to again post a fun, festive marg recipe.

This one is super easy and refreshing! When I originally found this recipe, the so called “best margarita you’ll ever have” I was intrigued. I’ve made it quite a few times now always thinking yes this is seriously the best classic margarita of liiiiife!

INGREDIENTS

Ground sea salt
2 ounces (1/4 cup) tequila (labeled white, silver or blanco, I used El Padrino)
1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) fresh lime juice
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) fresh orange juice (adjust based on desired sweetness)
1 teaspoon simple syrup or light agave nectar (adjust based on desired sweetness)
1 lime wedge or round, for garnish

TO DO

Pour layer of salt onto small plate.

Slice off a small piece of lime and run the edge along the rim of your glasses.

Dip the tip of your glass and roll it side to side to coat the rim.

Add ice to glasses and set aside.

Fill cocktail shaker with ice.

Pour in the tequila, freshly squeezed lime and orange juice and simple sugar OR agave nectar.

Put on the lid and shake for 30 seconds.

Strain the liquid into your glass and garnish with a slice of lime.

Hope you enjoy!

Salud to a great Cinco de Mayo!

Cheers Valentine!

February 9, 2017

Now you know we’re all about a festive bev, especially one that involves champagne or prosecco. A drink involving bubbles? We’re in!!

So we had to share this fun and festive drink that would be perfect for a Galentine’s celebration or a cute Vday date night. Bonus-it is suuuper easy to make!

The basis for this drink is the ice cubes. Buuut they’re not just your average cube my friend, they are CHAMPAGNE ice cubes!

Ingredients

Strawberries, sliced or diced

Champagne or sparkling wine

Ice Cube Molds or Tray (we went the festive route with these from Amazon)

Directions

Fill the ice cube trays with the sliced/diced strawberries

Pour the champagne or sparkling wine over the fruit into the trays

Freeze for about 4-6 hours or until solid enough for the cubes to pop out of the tray (the champagne will not freeze 100% but will be solid enough to remove and use!)

Add to a glass of champagne or white wine and enjoy! The strawberry champagne cubes added such a nice refreshing flavor to our champs that we will definitely be making these all the time!

FUN-Festive-FRESH-Fizz

October 11, 2016

One of the best parts about our mini Disney vacay was experiencing a deliciously fresh and new drink!!  Kat and I decided to hang at Il Mulino’s bar and boy was it a greatttt idea!

I decided to order one of their speciality drinks to go ahead and try something fun and new. Let me tell ya, it was well worth it!  I ordered what they called an Aperol Spritz.  It sounded super light and refreshing, and the main ingredient was Prosecco so how could I resist?!

img_8007

Since Kat and I loveddd it so much, we decided it would be festive to recreate the drink for Fall (especially because they’re orange in color hehe)  They literally take 1 minute to make and were just as delicious as we remembered so we def recommend them!

Recipe:

1 1/2 ounces Aperol

img_7989

3 ounces {or more depending on taste} Prosecco or sparkling wine, chilled

img_7992

Sparkling mineral water or club soda, chilled

img_7993

1 lemon or orange slice or twist

img_8010

Fill the glasses with the Proseco {we used larger glasses so we filled them about halfway}, then add the Aperol and a splash of club soda. Garnish with the orange and you’re good to go!

img_8012
img_8015

This makes a fairly large drink, but because it is so light and not sweet, it’s easy to drink haha.

As for the Prosecco, you can use any brand, but the bar specifically used Cupcake.  The Aperol is the most expensive ingredient, but you only use a little anyway so you definitely can get several drinks out of the bottle!

img_8059

If you’re looking for a fun, fresh, and easy Fall drink recipe- this is it!  Reminder it’s not super sweet but the Prosecco gives it just the perfect amount sugar!

Please share with us some of your fav drink recipes, and tell us what you think about this one!!

TASTE [ Arctic Zero ] REVIEW

July 20, 2016

Doesn’t this {almond} milkshake look delicious?! The recipe is below!

Now if you know me you know I have a huuuuge sweet tooth. I’m a dessert over dinner type of person, which is unfortunate because I know sugar is supposedly the devil.

I have tried in the past to find “healthy” treats to curb this neeeed for sweets and have mostly failed and gone back to the hard stuff (brownies, Sour Patch Kids, Publix cookies).

One healthy sweet treat I had previously tried was Arctic Zero and to be honest I did not love it. So when Arctic Zero reached out to us and offered to let us try some of their new flavors, I figured why not try again. It can’t hurt!

DSC_0310

Now if you’re not familiar Arctic Zero is a fit frozen dessert. It is low calorie-some flavors are only 150 calories for an ENTIRE pint [ummm yes please!] Click here to learn more about their products. But bottom line these desserts are essentially guilt free and have no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors.

Tee and I sat down and sampled the flavors they sent and we were definitely pleasantly surprised!

Now here is the number 1 pro tip and something I did not do the first time I ever tried this product. You need to let it sit at room temp for 10-15 minutes or for us impatient people microwave for 30 seconds.

This makes the biiiigest difference! It makes it super creamy and more of an ice cream texture.

DSC_0315

Tee’s favorite flavors: Brownie Blast {instant favorite} Snickerdoodle Dandy {has sugar cookie pieces in it!}

Least favorite: Banana Pudding {not feeling this banana flavor}

DSC_0319

Kat’s favorite flavors: Poppin Pomegranate {tart & so refreshing!} Brownie Blast {perfect when you are craving chocolatey deliciousness}

Least favorite: Cake batter {I wanted to like it soooo much but the taste just wasn’t doing it for me}

When I tried the brownie blast flavor, I knew I could make a “healthy” milkshake with it and it turned out AMAZING! Definitely try it out and let me know what you think!

[Brownie Blast] milkshake

INGREDIENTS

-1 pint Arctic Freeze brownie blast

– 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk {alter according to desired thickness}

-optional toppings:

-chocolate syrup

-whipped cream

-mini chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS

1. In a blender, blend brownie blast and almond milk until smooth.

2. Pour into desired cup, then top with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and mini chocolate chips {or whatever desired toppings you wish}

This was so tasty!

I’ll definitely will be trying it out with other flavors and toppings.

We’re excited to experiment with some other flavors and recipes and luckily will feel pretty guilt-free doing so!

Let us know if you’ve tried Arctic Zero before and what other flavors we need to give a-go!

{LIFE} is a fiesta!

May 4, 2016

With Cinco de Mayo this Thursday, it is only right that we share our favorite margarita recipe with you all!

It is beyond delicious and so simple and customizable. We hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating and ¡Salud!

cinco

{INGREDIENTS}

DSC_1686

Tequila! [3oz or depending on desired strength of marg]

Obviously this is a must have unless you are making a mocktail!

DSC_1685

Juice! [1 cup]

This is my favorite to use because it isn’t very heavy but super delicious. You can totally use regular orange juice too!

DSC_1684

Frozen or fresh mango! [2 1/2 cups of frozen mango or 2 ripe mangos cubed]

Now, this is a super important ingredient as these are mango margaritas. I always have frozen mango on hand as it is one of my favorite snacks, but fresh works awesome too! If you use fresh mango you will need ice to add to the blender.

DSC_1688

Limes & Hot Sauce! [2-3 small limes//dash of hot sauce]

You will need the juice of two limes for the blending of the margarita and one half of a lime to use for the rim and garnish. The hot sauce is optional. I love a little kick, but adding the hot sauce in is totally up to you!

DSC_1687

Sea Salt (or Sugar) & Chili Powder! [1 tsp chili powder// 1 tsp sea salt]

These ingredients are for the rim and you can use salt or substitute sugar if you like a sweeter rim!

{STEPS}

  1. Add all the ingredients, except the chili powder and sea salt to the blender and blend until smooth. If you choose to use fresh mango, make sure and add a handful of ice cubes to the blender. Taste and adjust sweetness/alcohol strength. If you prefer your marg sweeter add some extra mango or even some agave syrup!DSC_1690

2. Use a wedge of the third lime and rim the edges of your glasses. Immediately dip the glass rims into the chili powder and salt [or sugar] mixture to coat. Cut thin slices of the leftover lime to garnish.

DSC_1693

3. Pour in your margarita mixture and enjoy!
