Shopping SHEIN {tips & tricks}

September 18, 2018

Being affordable fashion bloggers, Tee and I are always looking for stores, online or in person, that cater to quality clothes for a great price. As you know some of our favorite places to shop are Marshalls and TJ Maxx because not only are they affordable, they have amazing brand names too. When we’re shopping online we’re always trying to scoop up the best deals and steals! We totally agree with investing in timeless pieces and accessories, but when it comes to more trendy items we really don’t see any reason to splurge!

{Green dress $15, comes in a ton of other colors}

One of our favorite online retailers to shop is Shein. I get a TON of questions whenever I post a Shein item. People want to know if it’s legit, well-made, etc. and I totally understand why! Shein is SO cheap, it makes other affordable fashion retailers look like Gucci. And I love shopping their stuff, but it definitely takes some technique to get pieces you’ll love! We thought we’d share a few tips and tricks on how to best shop their site for super cute, affordable, trendy pieces!

Read Reviews

Shein reviews are legitimately like a lifeline when shopping! I always focus on pieces that have a ton of reviews and photos. This way you can get a better idea on size, length, and material quality. The photos are super helpful because you can get different ideas on how to style the pieces as well. If the item doesn’t have any reviews and you’re still loving it then…..

Closet Organization on a Budget

July 30, 2018

I love the place we live in, but it is seriously lacking in the closet/storage space! Now being the clothes lover that I am I have to get kind of creative when organizing my closet space. I don’t use any dressers and have all of my items solely in this closet, which is like a mini walk in.

Strategically organizing it has been key! If you don’t see your clothes, your forget about them and never end up wearing them. At least that’s how it is for me. So here are a couple tips that hopefully can help you organize your own closet space to make the most out of what you have!

5 Must Haves for a TROPICAL vacay

May 30, 2018

Ok guys, it’s almost officially Summer, but let’s be real Summertime kickoff is Memorial Day weekend. I don’t care if the season didn’t officially start, the Summertime vibes are here!

If you’re like us the Summer season means tropical beach trips. Whether that’s a trip out of the country or just a weekend adventure down to your local beach or pool, it’s that time of year where we can all act like sun goddesses and bask in the fun of Summer activities.

In order to kickoff this fun vacay season we are sharing our top five must-haves for any beach/tropical trip you may have coming up. Even if it is a staycation, there’s nothing wrong with fanning yourself with some palm leaves and pretending you’re in Tulum!

1. Palm Print

load

Does anything scream tropical vacay like palm print pieces?! Just looking at this print puts me in the Summertime mood.

2. Fun, Festive Swimsuits

load

There are swimsuits and then there are vacay swimsuits. I don’t know about you, but I always feel like we can push the boundaries a little when we wear swimsuits on a tropical vacation! I love buying suits that I might not normally wear because of that vacay yolo.

3. Cute PJs

load

Now on most of our tropical trips we spend the days at the beach & pool. Which means before we do anything at night we come back to the room, shower, and get ready. PJs are normally a last minute throw in when it comes to packing, but not if you have a cute, comfy pair! You can get ready for the night out in them and then wear them later to sleep.

4. Bright Orange/Red lip

load

This is a Summer makeup staple for me! You can wear minimal makeup or none really, throw on a bright orange/red lip and you look aaaamazing! It goes so good with a tan and all the bright Summer prints and colors.

5. Summertime Drinkwear

load

Now what is more fun then drinking a cold beverage by a pool, than drinking it out of fun festive drinkwear?! Some of these are practical, some not so much-but it’s all about the fun this season!

We’d love to hear about any upcoming tropical vacays you have! Happy Summer!

DIY // Embroidered Patch Denim Jacket

October 16, 2017
embroidered denim jacket

Denim jackets are a wardrobe staple for us. They can be dressed up or down and come in so many different colors and styles.

The patch denim jacket has been popping up everywhere, from reaaally expensive versions (YSL has one for $1,250) to basic trendy versions you can find at Forever 21. Now back in High School I loved patches. When a pair of my favorite jeans started to have tears and rips, I threw on some vintage patches to solve the issues. My favorite part about adding patches or pins to a piece of denim is that it can totally be personal to you.

I like that brands are coming out with affordable versions of the patch denim jacket, but I feel like the fun of having a jacket like this is to make it personalized.

I scored this denim jacket from Forever 21 during one of their flash sales. It is aaaamazing quality, was $8, and is a men’s xs so it fits a little bigger which I love. There were already patches on it (two-thirds of which I hated) and a cute embroidered detail at the back. I figured I could easily remove the disliked patches and personalize it with my own finds! I left the rose patch and cut the other two off the jacket.

Latest MARSHALLS Scores

October 3, 2017

We haven’t posted about our Marshall’s finds lately (this doesn’t mean we haven’t shopped there in awhile haha) but we found some amazinggg deals (which is nothing new!) this past weekend!

As most of you know, Marshalls is not the typical store you shop at when you’re in a rush or looking for something VERY specific.  There is always soooo much inventory whether it’s clothes, shoes, household items or even FOOD!  So Kat and I could (and literally do) browse the store for hourssss.  Even if you are looking for a particular item….we always feel it’s worth a stop at Marshalls! Styling Stripes [day & night]

August 13, 2017
styling stripes for day and night

We love a good classic print and for us stripes are a staple. A timeless style for all ages. We often hear people say ‘I can’t wear stripes-they’re unflattering!’ to which we say YESSSS YOU CAN and no they’re not!

Often times people misjudge that the stripes themselves are unflattering, when really it is the cut of the top, dress, or pants. Stripes have come a long way from the basic striped T. There are so many gorgeous pieces out there featuring the classic print and we’re styling two of them for day and night.

Tee loved the style of this cute v neck T! Instead of basic black and white stripes, it has the cutest reverse striped detail on the sleeves and back. It is also super flattering on and only $5!! I mean $5?!

What did we BUY? [Nordstrom Anniversary Sale]

July 19, 2017

Now that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is about to be LIVE for everyone [yaaaayy!] we wanted to show you some of the pieces we bought and highly recommend. Along with some of the pieces we’ll still be picking up for ourselves and as gifts for others!

Here is our first post with all of the sale details you need to know.

During the Early Access part of the sale items were selling out fast! Like we said before if you keep checking back sizes will start to restock and items will come back. That’s what I’m doing for these Adidas cuties! Fingers crossed they come back in stock in my size because everywhere else is selling them for full price.

Here are the items we bought during Early Access and highly recommend:

jeans try on jacket and jeans

I’m in love with this jacket! Definitely an amazing deal and I was sold on the gold hardware immediately. I’m wearing a medium and it fits perfectly with enough room for a sweater underneath.

The jeans are also a great buy! They are under $60 and I love the dark denim with slight distressing. They claim to be mid-rise but I feel they are definitely a higher rise which I looooove.

back of jeans

I honestly feel that no girl can ever have too many jeans.  I love TopShop so these super distressed jeans caught my eye on the Nordstrom Sale!  As soon as I got them, I immediately fell in love.  I love that they are distressed all over-not just the knee area, they are high waisted, and real thick denim with the right amount of stretch!

dark denim

side of jeans

Like I said jeans, jeans, and more JEANS!!  Seriously, I wear jeans EVERY single day (even to work), so having several quality options (without rips/distress) is super important.  BLANKNYC makes super nice, not too pricey, quality denim.  These jeans are dark wash (not too dark where they look like a jegging) but can be dressed up or down.  They are skinny fit and touch right below the ankle with the perfect amount of stretch!  The tag says mid-rise butttt they feel more like high rise.  Definitely worth every penny!

load

leggings lookNow I was always doubtful of these leggings because even on sale they are a little pricey for me {$35.90}. I’m normally a Marshalls girl for leggings but the reviews were always sooo amazing. I have to say I really like them! They are super high waisted and flattering and don’t ride down which is a definite bonus.

I definitely recommend them if you’re an avid leggings wearer like myself!

Here are some items we are definitely still going to purchase:

The anniversary sale runs through August 6th and then prices go up! We definitely recommend shopping items you know you’ll need once the cool weather kicks in. Here in Florida I will not be throwing that leather jacket on for a while haha but I seriously can’t wait to wear it!

If you’re not shopping for yourself there are a few gift items that would be great to pick up for upcoming Holidays, which sounds insane [the holidays?!] but smart haha!

Here are a few gifties we saw that we’ll definitely be purchasing as well:

We are early gift shoppers-when we see a good deal we buy the item and save it for that special someone. Our Mom’s birthday is in October and we already have her gift haha.

Let us know if you have any questions about the sale or products we’ve purchased/mentioned!

Guide to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary SALE

July 14, 2017
anniversary sale logo

So as you know everyone and their mother has been talking about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale the past couple of weeks.

Toted as the “Superbowl of Shopping” we were always a bit skeptical. Now because Tee and I looove a good deal we are pretty critical on what constitues an amazing sale. We are all about quality over quantity which is why we love shopping Marshalls and TJ Maxx. You aren’t getting cheap or irrelevent brands or styles-you’re scoring nice quality pieces at an amazing price!

Last year was the first year I really shopped the sale and I was pleasantly surprised! There were some really affordable pieces and the items did go back to a higher price point after the sale was over.

One of my favorite pairs of Topshop Jeans were scored during the sale last year and were such an amazing deal!

sale dates

A couple of tips I learned from last years sale that may be helpful to you this year:

Tip #1

Keep checking back. If you love something and it sells out quickly there will most likely be more that come in stock or people will return items! I bookmark the page for the item I love and check back a couple times a day.

Tip #2

You can always return! One thing I love about ordering or shopping in Nordstrom is that the return process is so simple. So if you have doubts order the piece and make sure you return it if you don’t love it when it arrives.

Tip #3

Think ahead. Tee and I always shop for Fall and Winter pieces during the Summer regardless of the store. It is seriously the best time to scoop these types of items {cardigans, coats, boots, scarves} up because in a couple of months you’ll need them and they will be double or triple the price.

So don’t fret that you won’t wear it for a little while. Put it in your closet and you’ll be so happy to have the pieces in a couple of months.

Tip #4

Do not buy something just because it is on sale!!!

Now this can be very hard for us to even do but it is important. Just because something is on sale and there is the element of scarcity don’t buy it. Buy pieces you know you’ll wear and love. During sales like this it’s hard not to go crazy with all the hype.

We each rifled through the sale and came up with some of our favorite picks! We will keep them updated based on the changing inventory for you.
