NOLA recap

March 27, 2019

We ventured to NOLA for spring break and also to check out some wedding venues! We had been tossing around the idea of having our wedding here so we figured we needed to head out and really decide. We had both been to New Orleans before but this trip seriously sealed the deal for us!

NOLA destination wedding here we comeeeee!

So even if you aren’t planning a wedding I wanted to recap what we did and where we stayed just in case you’re planning an upcoming trip. Which I highly recommend you do. My mouth is seriously watering just thinking of all the amazing food we ate!

  Night One

We stayed at the NOPSI hotel which we absolutely loved! It’s a beautiful hotel and easily walkable to pretty much everything we did.

J’aime Montréal {Travel Guide}

July 31, 2017
downtown view

Montreal was so beautiful I honestly can’t say it enough! We travelled there for David’s birthday because it is his favorite city-I had never been. He had been quite a few times and always talked about how gorgeous and fun Montreal was {so true!} so I couldn’t wait to go and explore!

Even though David had visited a few times before most of the places we explored he’d never been. It’s just a testament to how much there is to see. Even in the 4 days we were there we didn’t hit everything we wanted to, but that just means we’ll definitely be returning!

So here is our guide to Eats & Drinks, Things to Do, and What to Wear Montreal edition!

Puerto Rico, I love you!

August 3, 2016

Returning back from vacay is always hard, but returning home from Puerto Rico was extra tough! It was such a FUN trip and I can honestly say I fell in love with the city of San Juan.

We’ve already been talking about hitting things we missed on our next trip there!

TO DO

[Old San Juan]

We took an entire day to explore Old San Juan and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was so incredibly beautiful! Strolling the streets and exploring the rainbow colored buildings and historic forts was so fun. We tasted some delicious food and of course some Puerto Rican rum.

These doorways though!

We stumbled upon Casa Melaza rum boutique as we were exploring the city and it was so cute!

They have more than just rum, but when you are in the rum capital of the world you can bet that’s what I’m going to taste!

We shared a flight of delicious rums. They have a few different flight tastings to choose from ranging from years aged. We learned some Puerto Rican rum history and had an amazing time!

Savannah [wrap-up]

June 6, 2016

We had a great girls trip in Savannah last week and wanted to share some of our favorite spots that we stumbled upon this trip.

If you’ve ever been to Savannah, you know it is a great city to just walk around and stumble into places that look fun and that is basically what we did this trip. We didn’t have any set plans and just wanted to see where the wind took us haha.

Here are some of our favorite [must-do’s] :

1. The Marshall House

IMG_5925

We stayed at the Marshall House this trip and it was perfect for a girl’s weekend. It’s such a historic hotel with tons of interesting background stories and so, so pretty! It was the perfect location to walk literally everywheeere in the city. And having a wine & cheese hour is always a bonus.

2. Rocks on the Roof

This is the rooftop bar of the Bohemian Hotel on the river. The views are gorgeous! I can never pass up a rooftop bar and the drinks were delish. I definitely recommend hitting up their happy hour if you’re in town Monday through Thursday!

Road Trippin’

May 19, 2016

Sooo, for Memorial Day Weekend we are taking a mini vaca to Savannah, Georgia!  I cannot wait cause I have only heard wonderful things about this charming destination.  Kat has been there before but we still wanted to compile a list of things we want to do and restaurants/bars we want to try!

I loveeeee spooky things so one of my must dos is the Blue Orb Ghost Tour.  It got amazing reviews and is definitely something different to try.

The Olde Pink house seems just like a classic tavern to try when visiting Savannah.  It’s an 18th century mansion that serves classic southern cuisine with live music!

My kind of town {CHICAGO} is

March 23, 2016

I’d never been to Chicago, but had always wanted to visit and see what Frank Sinatra, and a ton of other people, were talking about.

I definitely fell in love!

That skyline, the food, the people, it was a great trip-even considering the fact that I came back about 500 pounds heavier {the foooood!}

So here are some of our must-do’s when in the city! Please add your recommendations down below as well because I’m quite sure I’ll be back.

{ must EAT }

1. Girl & the Goat

IMG_4977

Now, we got lucky getting in to Girl & Goat apparently. We had heard multiple amazing things about this place and thought we’d try and sneak in at opening without a reservation. Luckily, they let us have a table as long as we were done in an hour and a half which was perfect for us, we were on a bit of a restaurant bender at this point. I definitely recommend attempting this if you can’t get a reservation!

Get: Olive Bread & Chickpea Fritter {amaaaazing}

2. Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken

IMG_5088

We wandered in here on our last day based on our intrigue {donuts and chicken?!} and some amazing Yelp reviews. They were not wrong! The donuts are soooo good and the spicy chicken sandwich was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had, and I’m not going to lie I’m quite the spicy chicken connoisseur.

Get: buttermilk old fashioned donut & a spicy chicken sandwich

3. Jellyfish

IMG_4979

My boyfriend took me here for an early birthday celebration and of course I’m a sucker for a menu shoutout. The vibe is really cool and the service was so good. I’d definitely recommend coming here if you love sushi-it’s in a really cute area of town and there are a bunch of places to venture to after dinner.

Get: Angry Jalapeno Roll

4. Chicago’s Pizza

{I have no pictures of this magical pizza because it didn’t last a minute on the plate}

Now, we were taken here by one of my boyfriend’s friends who used to live in the city and to be honest we had our hesitations as the cab ride felt longgg and it was super late. But this pizza is amaaaazingggg. I can’t even describe how good because now I’m starving and all I want is this pizza.

Get: thin crust Italian sausage

{ must DRINK }

1. The Berkshire Room

IMG_4937

We were told to go to this craft cocktail lounge in the ACME Hotel by a local bartender, and I’m so so glad we did. The vibe is cool & moody, almost speak-easy type, and the drinks are delicious.

Get: Semester’s Abroad

2. The Signature Room at the 95th Floor

IMG_4994

View = I N S A N E.

That’s really all I have to say about this place. A complete must do. And yes the view is even more amazing from the ladies room as everyone says.

Get: Mojito {yes, a mojito, I know but it was legit goooood}

3. RM Champagne Salon

IMG_4970

Now if you know me you know I am all about my champsss so this place was a must. It was such a cute atmosphere. They have a gorgeous patio area, which is open in the summer, so I would definitely return to sip some champagne there as well!

Get: some champs of course & the Chocolate Tart dessert

4. Forbidden Root Brewery

IMG_4956

We were taken to this brewery by some locals we met at The Berkshire Room. They said it was the first brewery dedicated to crafting botanic beers using all natural ingredients in Chicago. It was such a cool experience and a really fun environment! We absolutely love recommendations from locals because they’re usually off the beaten path.

Get: Forbidden Root brew

{ must SEE }

1. St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

IMG_4914

This was so fun! I would definitely recommend experiencing Chicago during their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The green river was magical and the city was so alive.

IMG_4904

2. West Loop

IMG_4967

We stumbled upon this area when we were going to RM Champagne Salon. It wasn’t open yet so it gave us time to explore the area and try some delicious food. Green Street Meats, Girl & the Goat, there are so many cool bars and restaurants in this area.

3. The Bean at Night

IMG_5039

As a tourist in this city, I was definitely seeing the Bean. I am so happy we ended up there at night. It wasn’t super crowded and the pictures don’t even do it justice. I would highly suggest visiting at night.

4. Cultural Center

IMG_5113

We stumbled into the Cultural Center as our last stop on our last day and I am so glad we did. It is so beautiful and we walked in on a couple of amazing musicians practicing, so basically a free concert. It is definitely worth the stop.

IMG_5111

5. The Navy Pier

IMG_5110

We saw beautiful views of the water and the fog rolling in on the city at the Navy Pier. This Summer they’ll be unveiling the new ferris wheel which looks so fun. I’ll definitely have to return one summer to experience a little warmth and ferris wheel action at the Navy Pier.

We absolutely fell in love with this city and had so many fun adventures. If you have any plans to travel here I hope our recommendations help! We spent 3 and a half days in Chicago and got a lot done {and a lotttt of food eaten}.

[Traveling] in style

February 18, 2016

Both Tee and I have some upcoming trips planned. She’s heading to Houston next week, and I’ll be heading to Chicago in March!

We both loveeee to travel and explore new cities. Before our impending trips we wanted to share with you some of our tips for traveling in style, while still being comfortable. Trust us, you can have the best of both worlds!

IMG_0083

No one wants to be sitting on a five hour flight in an uncomfortable esemb. Here are some of our favorite pieces & necessities we always wear//have on a trip.

SCARF

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.10.41 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.08.50 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.08.33 PM

A scarf is an essential for a flight in my book! No matter if you’re traveling somewhere cold or warm, it is perfect to wrap around you on a chilly flight, use as a blanket, or even a pillow.

LEGGINGS

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.32.33 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.33.18 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.33.55 PM

Now I know not everyone is obsessed with leggings, but I seriously am an avid wearer. I find them so perfect for a flight because they are comfy as all else and can be dressed up or down depending on how you want to style them.

DENIM

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.38.36 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.42.17 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.44.37 PM

If leggings are not your thing, denim works perfect as the basis for your travel ensemb. Now I don’t suggest your tightest jeans if you’ll be sitting on an airplane for a few hours, but a cute and comfy pair will be just perfect!

DENIM SHIRT/UTILITY JACKET/FLANNEL

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.49.53 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.51.28 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.52.52 PM

These three pieces are pretty interchangable but serve the same basic function.

It’s nice to just have a lightweight piece to throw over you if you get chilly {which I always do} on a flight. Because these are lightweight they won’t take up a ton of room and can easily be tied around your waist.

GO-TO COMFY SHOES

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.58.35 PMScreen Shot 2016-02-17 at 6.59.26 PM

Screen Shot 2016-02-17 at 7.01.57 PM

Now I’m a converse girl and that is my go-to comfy but cute sneaker. I love wearing them for travel because if I need to run to my gate {which unfortunately has happened before} I can do it!

All of these options are stylish but will allow you to run around the airport with ease.

We hope our favorite travel style tips help you for your next adventure! Let us know some of your favorite pieces to wear when you travel!

Disney Celebration!

February 16, 2016

So, it was my birthday this past week and my amazing sister was sweet enough to plan a weekend trip to one of the most magical places on earth: Walt Disney World! Especially since we live in Florida, Kat and I love to go to Disney as often as we can with our seasonal passes. We’re obsessed with the rides, characters, food and of course drinks! They just always make it so special.

IMG_0436-1

IMG_0432

To start off my birthday celebration Kat booked us a room at The Dolphin hotel. This is right in the heart of Disney which made it so easy to navigate to the parks and even better the hotel was super gorg with all the lights at night!

IMG_0416 IMG_0446-1

Since Kat made my birthday so special I wanted to do something nice for us both so, I was able to score a prime reservation at Cinderella’s Royal Table right inside her castle in Magic Kingdom! We were able to visit and take pics with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Ariel, and Jasmine! The experience was the epitome of Disney and is def worth it for any die hard Disney goer. We felt like Disney princesses!
