T-E-X-A-S Travels

Sooo, this past weekend I was able to visit the fun and huge state of Texas for my birthday! I was super excited to visit my bestie who recently relocated to Houston. But before I headed her way, I was able to make some super fun stops along the way in Conroe, Humble, and The Woodlands!

Now, I’m not going to bore you with every little detail of my mini vaca, but I wanted to share some insight on what to do and where to eat when visiting in Texas!

Visiting The Woodlands is just super gorg because it’s more of an upscale area with plenty of shopping and eating.  I went there at night and just walked around Baker St. (aka Sherlock’s home address haha).  They have some super cute bars and fancy restaurants.  All the trees and streets are covered in lights, and the waterway makes it a super cute and romantic setting!  My suggestion is going to the bar Goose’s Acre.  The beer taps are cobra heads and the bar top is actually an antique from the 1800’s.  You can’t go wrong with simply just stopping by this area.

My step-mom is from Texas so she knows where the good food is at, especially the Mexican, yum! Two of my new favorite restaurants are Lupe’s and Pappasito’s.  If I had to pick, I would def choose Pappasito’s simply because of the drink known as the Wave or Ultimate Wave.  This drink is a mix of a margarita and sangria and was seriously so delicious.  The fajitas are a must at Lupe’s because the tortillas are bigger than the plate!  Both restaurants have delicious Mexican food and can be found in most cities in Texas.

Once I ended up in Houston, of course I had to test their bars out as well to see if they compared to The Woodlands haha.  Rice village is a popular stopping point in Houston and it’s neat because there are different pubs, restaurants, and shopping to test out.  I really enjoyed visiting 55 Bar because the drinks were good and the place was chill.  I also heard their food is amazing!  We also hopped to the Gaslamp and the Midtown Drinkery, which made for a fun night.

As you read from our last post, weekend brunch is a must!  So, my friend took me to Punks, which was aesthetically pleasing and most importantly the food was good!  If you’re ever looking for some southern style food, this restaurant is a good little place to stop by.

To finish off my amazing trip, my friend and I went to Bayou Bend which consists of a gorgeous mansion owned by the Hogg family (a prominent family in Texas) with antique furniture and a collection of 14 acres of stunning flower gardens.  It was very inexpensive too and you take the tour at your own pace and can take tons of pics!  Also, right next to the Bayou Bend, on Kirby road, are absolutely marvelous neighborhoods full of castle-like mansions that are definitely worth a drive by.

In such an enormous state, I wasn’t able to do even a fraction of what I wanted, but everywhere I went was nothing but a great experience!  I hope if any of you ever travel to Texas you’ll give some of my suggestions a try! And because my trip was so much fun, I will most definitely be heading back soon so please share with me some of your fav places to go in Texas!

Ever since I saw those sangria margaritas on IG I haven’t been able to get them out of my head. Houston is my hometown but I haven’t been back in so long…it sounds like it changed a lot! Glad you had a good time!
